Simon Allen
CEO
McGraw Hill
Simon Allen was named CEO of McGraw Hill in October 2019. Previously he served as President of the company’s Higher Ed and International business units. He rejoined McGraw Hill in March 2018.
Simon has deep experience in educational publishing having led large teams across six continents focused on K-12 and higher education, as well as science, technical and medical digital and print products for professional, governmental and institutional markets.
Before joining McGraw Hill, Simon was the CEO of Macmillan Education, leading the company’s transition from print to blended learning products and solutions. Previously, he was Senior Vice President, International at The McGra -Hill Companies and during that time was elected President of The Publishers Association in the U.K., serving for three years on its council. Before that, Simon was President, Higher Education at both Pearson Education EMEA and Prentice Hall Europe. Earlier in his career, he held sales leadership roles with the Times Mirror Group in the U.S., Europe and the Middle East.
Simon received his BA with honors from Middlesex University School of Business and completed Executive Education programs in Leadership and Strategic Management at the London Business School.
Angelo T. DeGenaro
CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER
Angelo T. DeGenaro joined the company in 2015 and serves as Chief Information and Operations Officer for McGraw Hill. He leads McGraw Hill’s Global Technology and Digital Platform Groups, including the development and support of customer-facing products, as well as the IT architecture, infrastructure, operations, and cybersecurity of front and back-office systems. He oversees Global Supply Chain Management, including manufacturing, inventory planning, fulfillment, and order management. Angelo also leads the Customer Experience Group, providing customer support for students using our digital products.
Angelo began working for The McGraw Hill Companies in 2004, with his last position being Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at McGraw Hill Financial. In that role, he was responsible for enterprise architecture, global infrastructure delivery, business systems, and IT risk management. Before joining The McGraw Hill Companies, Angelo held senior technology leadership positions at Cigna and Citi. He spent seven years at Cigna as the Senior Vice President of Infrastructure Implementation Services and also held several operational and engineering leadership roles during his earlier 18-year tenure at Citi.
Angelo is a member of The Research Board, a New York-based international think tank. He holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from New York University and a Master of Science in telecommunications and computing management from Polytechnic University.
Scott Grillo
PRESIDENT
PROFESSIONAL GROUP
Scott Grillo was named President of McGraw Hill Education’s Professional group in March 2018. He is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s core publishing program and online subscription products in the Medical, Technical, Business, and Test Prep categories. Previously, he served as Vice President, Global Professional Markets.
Since joining the company in 1996, Scott has served as Publisher for several divisions within the Professional group and has led the digital transformation of the business in all aspects of platform development, new product launches, technology innovation, and digital delivery including the portfolio expansion of McGraw Hill Education’s Access products. He is the Company’s representative on the Executive Council of the Association of American Publishers’ Professional and Scholarly division. Scott began his publishing career with Prentice Hall where he held sales and marketing roles within both the Higher Education and Professional Technical Reference divisions.
Scott graduated from The College of William & Mary and received his MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Stephen Laster
CHIEF DIGITAL OFFICER
Stephen Laster has been the Chief Digital Officer of McGraw Hill Education since August 2012. Before joining McGraw Hill Education, Stephen led Intelligent Solutions, LLC, a firm that engages with universities and businesses to leverage their digital technology and collaborative tools. At the same time, he served as the Chief Information and Technology Officer of the Harvard Business School and as a member of the HBS administrative leadership team, overseeing the school’s academic, research and administrative computing teams.
Prior to joining Harvard, Stephen held several leadership positions at Babson College, including Chief Technology Officer for Babson’s for-profit eLearning company and Director of Curriculum Innovation and Technology. Earlier, he held leadership positions at a number of companies where he was responsible for information technology, technology product development, and major re-engineering and implementation efforts.
Stephen serves on the board of IMS Global, served on the board of the Sloan Consortium for Online Learning and is a former trustee of Babson College. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College and an MBA from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College.
Catherine J. Mathis
CHIEF COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
Catherine J. Mathis serves as Chief Communications Officer for McGraw Hill Education, joining the company in May 2015. She is responsible for creating and executing corporate communication strategies targeted to critical business, media and education policy-related audiences, and also leads the company’s influencer and stakeholder management efforts. Prior to her arrival at McGraw Hill Education, Catherine served as the senior vice president of marketing and communications for Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services. She was also a member of the Standard & Poor’s executive committee.
Before that, Catherine was senior vice president of corporate communications for The New York Times Company, where she served as chief spokesperson. In 2006, Catherine was named Communicator of the Year by the New York chapter of International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).
Catherine serves on the Board of Overseers for the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, the Board of the Corporate Communication International Center at Baruch College, the Advisory Board of the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms and the Board of Trustees of Hartley House, a New York-based social services organization.
Catherine graduated with honors from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an M.B.A. with a concentration in marketing and management information systems.
Patrick Milano

Patrick Milano was named executive vice president, chief financial officer and chief administrative officer of McGraw Hill Education in May 2012. He is responsible for Finance, Manufacturing, Distribution, and IT as well as the management and operations of the company's International & Professional business group. In early 2018, Patrick served as Interim President of McGraw Hill Education’s International & Professional group. From September through October 2017, Patrick acted as the Interim President of McGraw Hill Education’s School group. Previously, Patrick served as executive vice president of Operations Services at Standard & Poor’s. In this senior role, with oversight for Finance, Strategy, Business Development, IT, Communications, Marketing and Risk Management, he was responsible for a variety of initiatives across Standard & Poor’s that strengthened the organization’s business processes, compliance processes and growth agenda.
Patrick has held a number of financial positions throughout The McGraw Hill Companies since joining as an accountant for the McGraw Hill Book Company in 1981. He also served as senior vice president, Finance and Administration, for Standard & Poor’s. Before that, he was senior vice president, Finance and Administration, for Standard & Poor’s Credit Market Services; and vice president, Finance and Administration, for Standard & Poor’s Investment Services. Patrick holds an M.B.A. from Monmouth University, a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Rutgers University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Heath Morrison

SCHOOL GROUP
Heath Morrison is president of McGraw Hill Education’s School group, which is responsible for offering PreK-12 educators and learners with programs, tools, and services supported by differentiated pedagogical instruction and purposeful technology. Previously, he served as the School group’s SVP of Sales. Heath joined McGraw Hill Education in 2015 as senior vice president of Government Affairs and Education Policy, where he was responsible for representing the company’s government-related opportunities before federal and state legislators and regulators as well as representatives of local school districts. He also advocated for educational policy issues affecting the company.
Heath has spent his entire career in education. He began as a social studies and math teacher in Virginia and Maryland, and moved into school administration serving as both a middle and high school principal before becoming a superintendent. He was named Maryland Principal of the Year in 2006. In 2012, he was named AASA’s National Superintendent of the Year for his work in the Washoe County School District in Reno, Nevada; the youngest leader and earliest in his tenure ever to receive this distinction. Heath most recently served as superintendent of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Heath graduated with a bachelor's degree in Government from the College of William and Mary. He holds a Masters of Educational Administration and a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Planning from the University of Maryland.
William (Bill) Okun

HIGHER EDUCATION GROUP
William (Bill) Okun is the President of McGraw Hill Education’s Higher Education group. Previously, he was a Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer for the group. Bill joined the company in 2016.
Prior to McGraw Hill Education, Bill served as Chief Commercial Officer for CEB, where he led the North American commercial teams as well as global operations. Bill joined CEB from Relationship Science LLC, a business intelligence firm in the sales and marketing space, where he served as President. Before Relationship Science, he was an Executive Managing Director at Standard & Poor's where, in his last role, he managed the Equity Research Services business unit. Bill joined Standard & Poor's with the acquisition of Capital IQ, where he had served as Executive Vice President. Prior to Capital IQ, Bill was a Director at Sapient Corporation, where he was a leader in the CRM practice. Early in his career, he also held roles at Gemini Consulting and The Forum Corporation.
Bill holds a BA in History from Amherst College and an MBA from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
Sheila M. O’Neill
INTERIM CHIEF CULTURE AND TALENT OFFICER
Sheila M. O’Neill joined McGraw Hill Education as Interim Chief Culture and Talent Officer in March 2018. As the global leader of the Culture and Talent teams, her major responsibilities include talent strategy and planning, performance management and rewards, employee engagement and recognition.
As Vice President of Human Resources for S&P Global Ratings from 2012 to 2017, Sheila led the Human Resources (HR) function and developed the global talent management strategy. This included refreshing the organizational structure to leverage new capabilities and leadership roles; enhancing talent management practices for improved hiring and succession plans; and partnering with senior leadership to design and implement change management activities. Sheila held other HR leadership roles with S&P Global (formerly McGraw Hill Financial) beginning in 2000. She served as Vice President of Human Resources for McGraw Hill Financial's Commodities & Commercial Markets business where she focused on acquisition and divestiture activities, leadership development and HR team performance.
Before joining S&P Global, Sheila held human resources leadership positions at Spherion Corporation and The Home Insurance Company focusing on talent acquisition, employee relations management, reward systems, and leadership development.
Sheila holds a master's degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University/Baruch College and a bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University. She recently completed the Executive Certificate in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University’s Institute for Transformational Leadership.
David Stafford
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL COUNSEL
David B. Stafford was appointed senior vice president and general counsel of McGraw Hill Education in May 2012. As general counsel, he is responsible for all legal matters affecting McGraw Hill Education and manages McGraw Hill Education's legal, government affairs and corporate security departments. Prior to May 2012, David was vice president and associate general counsel at The McGraw Hill Companies. As a senior member of the company’s legal department, he practiced in a wide variety of legal areas, with a focus on the company’s financial information businesses.
From 2006 to 2009, David served as senior vice president, Corporate Affairs, and assistant to the chairman and chief executive officer, where he was responsible for the marketing, communications, government affairs, and community relations activities of the company and advising the chairman and chief executive officer on matters involving the Board of Directors and the management and operation of the company generally. Prior to 2006 he was associate general counsel at The McGraw Hill Companies. Before joining The McGraw Hill Companies in 1992, he was an associate at the New York City law firms of Battle Fowler and Rosenman & Colin, where he specialized in corporate law. David is a graduate of Columbia College, where he received his bachelor’s degree, and a graduate of Cornell Law School, where he received his J.D. degree. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of YAI Network, a not-for-profit that provides services to people who are developmentally disabled.
